Teachers Innovation Award (TIA) is a national award facilitation ceremony hosted by Zero Investment Innovations for Education Initiatives (ZIIEI) and Sri Aurobindo Society to facilitate the teachers who have revolutionized the education system with their innovative teaching methods. This year the TIA is scheduled from 16th August to 18th August 2019 in Delhi.

Zero Investment Innovations for Education Initiatives (ZIIEI) is a mass scale teacher outreach initiative started in 2015 by Sri Aurobindo Society as part of its nationwide education transformation program Rupantar. ZIIEI, along with Aurobindo Society, annually facilitates teachers with such initiatives which can in wide-scale systematic implementation in Education, can improve the existing teaching methods and processes at zero or minimal cost. With support and encouragement of the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), ZIIEI is currently being implemented across States in India. This initiative is based on the thought that teachers are pillars of this nation and their contribution, if recognized and supported can bring about a significant improvement in the quality and reach of education. Therefore, ZIIEI aims to find ‘the scattered, isolated and unrecognized, but effective solutions’ created by teachers at the grassroots and systematically scale them up to millions of schools. Till date, more than 600 Teachers have received this Award.

Simply put, teachers Innovation awards are presented by ZIIEI and it can be regarded as a competition or a game of creating ideas to improve education. It has three main stages:

1. Submission of ideas by innovators and selection of the most effective ideas by jury.
2. Training of these selected innovators and adoption of their ideas by schools across the state.
3. Reward and recognition for the selected innovators and the most innovation-friendly.
