An idea to have a colour coding scheme in thermometers to indicate fever level.
A few months ago, Jaspreet’s father was suffering from typhoid and used to get fever, frequently. When Jaspreet tried to measure his temperature, she could not determine the exact temperature through a conventional thermometer. This led the young girl todevelop the idea of a thermometer that comes with built-in lights, which reflect the exact temperature. The thermometer that she has proposed have three lights red for high temperature, blue for low temperature and green for normal temperature.
“This makes the task of reading temperatures easy for those who are not educated,” says Jaspreet, whose father is an ASI withPunjab police while her mother is a homemaker. She has four sisters one set of elder twins in class 12 and another set of younger twins studying in class 4.
“I want the thermometer to reach as many people as possible. My classmates are so supportive that they told me that once the thermometer is manufactured, they will buy it in bulk and distribute it,” says Jaspreet, who scores above 90 per cent in all subjects. Her hobbies include painting, singing and listening to patriotic songs.
“In life, whenever I get rejected for something good, I am actually being redirected towards something better,” says Jaspreet.
She is passionate about space settlement and had won the second prizein NASA’s annual contest for space settlement designs, last year.Quoting Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, she says, “Don’t take rest after your first victory because if you fail in second, more lips are waiting to say that your first victory was just luck,” says Jaspreet, who wants to become a pilot.
